You’d better refrain putting on glasses for 1.5-2 months after rhinoplasty. Put on lightweight Rimless glasses if necessary and stick them to your forehead using adhesive tapes in order to prevent the nose being under the weight of glasses.
Surgeon, aiming to achieve a slimmer nose, narrows the bony nasal bridge using controlled bone fractures so that the bones become mobile then are gathered together around the central line by surgeon. Next, Splint or plaster cast is put around the nose to sturdily maintain re-set bones. This plaster cast is removed 7-10 days after rhinoplasty. Although splint holds the bones steady, the bones are not totally fixed yet 7-10 days after surgery. Blows to the nose or wearing glasses putting pressure on the nose makes the bones dislocated and moved out of their new position. Hence it leads to nasal disfigurement.
Therefore the patient undergone rhinoplasty has to avoid wearing sunglasses. Even if the patient has to wear eyeglasses, he/she must refrain from putting them on as much as possible for 1.5 months after rhinoplasty. And after this time, lightweight rimless glasses putting a little weight on the nose are permitted for one month.
You’d better stick them to your forehead using adhesive tapes in order to prevent the nose being under the weight of glasses.
Although the patient can’t put on glasses for a while, he/she is allowed to wear contact lenses two days after rhinoplasty.
3 months after surgery, wearing eyeglasses and sunglasses is permitted and it will not cause any problem for appearance of the nose or change the surgical outcome.
